Graduation Gown
A graduation gown is a robe-like garment adorned people who are about to graduate from a particular institution. The gown, which is a part of the academic regalia, can also be referred to as academic robe. It is basically a long garment which runs down vertically and can be found in many different colors depending on the institution or if the gown is custom made. The specifications of a graduation gown can differ from institution to institution because one institution may decide to go with the traditional gray color while others may opt to go with the colors of the institution.
There are other learning institutions that may ask the students or the graduating party to hire or buy their own gowns which may be custom made. The graduation gown is not a preserve of the students only; faculty members can put it on as well. The clothing may also be worn on official functions that the institution may at times hold. The difference in the gowns can also be spotted in the type of qualification that an individual has achieved. For instance, the bachelor’s degree gown is quite different from the doctorate degree gown in both colors and design.
