Are You a Southpaw? School Scholarships Could Help with Your Higher Education

Friday, February 27th, 2009

Searching for alternative avenues such as college bursaries to finance a college education is frequently difficult and time-consuming. These scholarships are not the same as a student loan because the funds are a grant, and consequently, do not have to be repaid. While searching means of funding your college instruction, suss out the different options, such as lefty scholarships.

Left-Handed Scholarships

It may seem crazy to extend a scholarship dependent on being left-handed, but consider this: Benjamin Franklin was a lefthander, so is the president of the United States, Barack Obama. Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Jimi Hendrix also were left-handed as well. Statistics indicate up to eleven percent of people are left-handed. Although in the past lefthanders have gone through discrimination, nowadays they are thought to be more gifted intellectually and more artistic. Today, lefties are no longer discriminated against or thought of as odd, and may have many qualities associated with the exceptional people identified previously. There are various scholarships accessible specifically for left-handed scholars if you search around. The Beckley Scholarship for funding up to 1000 USD is available at Juniata College in Huntington, PA. For scholars of Juniata College and founded in the 1970’s, this particular school grant assists a lot of southpaws get a university degree. Whilst looking for school scholarships, be aware that a few scholarships may have requirements and restrictions. Sometimes particular grades can be asked for or certain financial prerequisites must be satisfied. Multiple program applications will give you a greater opportunity of backing a college education with as little college debt upon graduation as is feasible. You might also look at local organisations, clubs and groups related to your hobbies. Left-handed bursaries aren’t a unusual example; funds are likewise accessible if you are a child of a from a armed services family or have a disability, to offer some examples. Some individuals need to invest a little your time searching for college grants, nonetheless the payoffs will be worth it. When used with standard lending, they can reduce the unavoidable debt that a college degree can generate. Be really thorough in exploring every last scholarship. These funding is only one of many options – think about your community affiliations and utilize your creativity. If you even consider you might be suitable, then go for it, keeping your academic debt to a an absolute minimum, additionally you’ll be facing a more positive economic future on finishing university.

How To Deal With Procrastination

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

Procrastination – why is it that some of us seem to struggle with getting things accomplished while others appear to make light work of their to do lists?

I have a confession to make … I also have times (like most people) where I struggle with working on certain tasks that I know need to get done. While I do make a concerted effort to keep such moments to a minimum, there are still times when the procrastination monster is known to rear its ugly head.

However, I should say that I don’t consider the fact that at times procrastination finds its way into my life to be that big of a deal.

Why not you ask?

Because I understand that by simply being aware that I’m putting off doing something I can make the decision to replace what I am doing (procrastinating) with an action that will lead to my getting what I want to get done — hence removing procrastination.

It comes down to a simple choice. Either I can choose to continue doing what I’m doing — putting things off, or I can choose to take an active step that will get the positive results I desire.

So what I’m saying is that while we may not ever get to a point where we totally remove the desire to procrastinate, we can choose to take corrective measures to get ourselves on track.

You’ve got to remember that it is a choice that we make. Simply being aware isn’t enough we also have to actually do the identified step that we know will put us on the path to the desired result…

If it’s getting up earlier then you’ll have to set that alarm clock or do whatever it takes to get up and get going. Action … even the tiniest of steps leads to less resistance.

To illustrate my point I’d like to share an example with you…

Just before I decided to start writing what you’re reading now I was doing something entirely different. I was doing some reading when the thought popped in to my head that I should write a column on procrastination. The point to consider is this… I had several very real choices to make in that instance. Whatever choice I decided on would give me very different results.

On one hand I could have (and almost did) made the choice to continue with my reading and forgo writing. Secondly, I could have chosen to make a note of the thought I had and simply told myself that I’d begin writing when I felt like it, or after I finished reading. Finally, and fortunately because I understand how if I’m not careful procrastination can spiral out of control I decided to immediately stop my reading and begin writing this article.

So you see, I still had the initial feeling of procrastination — I still felt the feeling of wanting to put something off for later, but instead I opted to work on what I felt I should do.

Interestingly the further along I get on this article the less resistance to doing it I’m experiencing — and so it is with procrastination. We best overcome it when we take active steps towards accomplishing the task at hand.

Be it exercising, working on school work, a business project, or just about anything one can imagine. Do the thing you are resisting doing as quickly as humanly possible and you’ll drastically reduce the times where feelings of procrastination rob you of achievement in your given endeavors.

Why Wait

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

One of the characteristics that distinguishes the successful in life and business from their less successful counterparts is their bent for action. Successful people tend to take more, better and smarter actions. But most of all they act now rather than at some wished-for point in time. A couple of recent examples brought this point home in a powerful way.

I was talking with someone a couple weeks ago who was in a state of overwhelm. She had hired an assistant to help her enter her contacts into a Palm Pilot. And while that was a very positive first step, she still had no idea how to operate her handheld device. Without asking what she was waiting for, I simply said to her, “Let’s get you up and running on it right now.” Fifteen minutes later she was delighted to have learned 90% of what she would need to make use of this time-saving tool. The key ingredient? You guessed it: action.

A client told me about an experience she had recently when she hired a personal assistant to help her organize papers and files at home. She also happened to mention to the woman that she wanted to reorganize her clothes closet. The assistant’s response: “Let’s do it now.” And an hour later, my client was thrilled to have her closet neatly organized. Once again, the difference was action.

Several times a year I offer a four-hour planning workshop called Best Year Yet(R), which gives participants an opportunity to create a one-year goal plan for their lives and businesses.* Consistently the participants walk out of the program fired up and ready to make great things happen. Yet that enthusiasm quickly fades unless they take some action in short order to start moving ahead on the goals they set. I offer all participants a free one-hour coaching session (valued at about $175) following the workshop. Less than 20% take advantage of it, but not surprisingly, the 20% who take that action are the same 20% who actually report back later that they are having (or have had) their best year ever. Why? Because they got in action.

Have you been waiting for something to change in order for you to get in action on a dream, goal or project? Maybe it’s better weather. Maybe you’re waiting until you “feel like it.” Maybe you think there is something else you need to do to “get ready” to get in action. At the end of the day, it’s action that separates the great from the good, the good from the mediocre and the mediocre from the failure. It’s action, consistently taken toward whatever you dream of, that turns dreams into reality.

In his book One Small Step Can Change Your Life, author Robert Maurer, devotes one entire chapter to “taking small actions.” Everything from weight loss and exercise to saving money or kicking a bad habit like smoking begin with one small step, repeated enough times to build confidence, competence and momentum.

This week I invite you to get in action. Take a step on that project you’ve been procrastinating on. Remove 10 pieces of paper from your desk. Return a phone call you’re avoiding. Eliminate something you no longer need, use or want. Enroll in the class you’ve promised yourself you’ll take. Start an exercise program by walking up a flight or stairs or parking at the back of the parking lot. The size of the action doesn’t matter. Taking it does. What are you waiting for?

Not tomorrow, not the next day, but eventually a big gain is made. Don’t look for the big, quick improvement. See the small improvements one day at a time. That’s the only way it happens–and when it happens, it lasts.”

Investment Portfolio of Chromabarography – strategy, market, objective, risk, potential, opportuniti

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

People who think. People who do. People who get it.

“Wat we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly”. Paine

“Friendship based on business is better than a business based on friendship”. Rockefeller

Do you want to know how you can save time and get higher profits, make your product competitive and ensure its sale on world market? Well ! But first I invite you to analyze together the situation around the conditions of the problem. The XX century, the latest period of the history of analytical chemistry, was specially rich in innovations. A great significance had the invention of chromatography (M. S. Tswett, 1903) and the subsequent development of its varieties.

The analyses of a great number of substances are based on the use of chromatographic principles of separation. On this same principle are based the separation of isotopes and therefore the creation of atomic weapon and atomic power stations.

Six Nobel prizes were won by Carrer in 1932, Kuhn in 1938, Ruzicka in 1939, Martin and Synge in 1952, Sanger in 1958 and 1980 – authors, whose achievements depended to a significant degree on the use of chromatographic analysis.

In the development of chromatography, a process that goes on up to-day, a definite tendency is traced. After the substantial theoretical and technological “gush” it follows to provide the equipment with additional parts allowing the enlargement of the analytical possibilities of the chromatograph. On this background it is considered in – time the development of Chromabarography – a new basic technology of chromatography.

What does it present itself, what does it give to the user and producer of the equipment? After all, the heart of chromatography is the chromatographic column. The theory of gas chromatography, presented by the equation of Van Deemter H = A + B/u + Cu shows that for each chromatographic separation there exists an optimal flow rate above and below which the column efficiency is reduced.

In practice, the linear speed of the sample zone moved by the carrier gas, is changed continuously and increases as it approaches the outlet, which results in a non-effective use of a part of the column.

Yet the linear speed may be kept constant by programming the movement of the pressure gradient along the column, realizing the function pressure – location – time and keeping ∆ p constant at the ends of the chromatographic column during the whole process of analysis.

For the first time in the world this basic technology was worked out and proposed by me, based on the investigation of the factors of diffusion and kinetics, and includes the meaning “bar-gradient chromatography” or Chromabarography. For its realization an equipment was invented and defended by a Russia patent. As a result a maximum possible efficiency (Hayrapetyan’s Effect) of column is obtained at a minimum length, which at the same time is optimal as well, as in difference to the ordinary column further increase in column length increases the analyses time. However these are not the only advantages of Chromabarography. On the contrary, new interesting possibilities of its modifications are opened which foresee: of combined application of the moving gradients of pressure and temperature (Chromabarothermography)

or of the moving of pressure gradient along the column simultaneously with temperature programming affected equally on all the separation column (Chromabarograph with temperature programming). Amongst other advantages of scientific value may be mentioned: The possibility of bar-focusing on each component to solve complex analytical problems on a singular gas chromatographic column, in difference to two or multistage columns.

The realization of the proposed technology and enrichment of any chromatographic equipment of serial production with supplementary parts is not linked with great expenses and difficulties, and service does not require special knowledge.

The percentage of the improved products will be increased.

As similar technologies and equipments do not exist in the whole world, demands for Chromabarographs will be significantly increased.

The profit and circulation from the realization of the equipment will be increased principally on account of selling the product on international market, and following the first publications concerning this theme it may be unpredictably much higher.

Having in hand data about the industrial capacities with account of economy in time and expenses for investigations, and the principal premises for working out of a new basic technology and the Chromabarography itself, it is not difficult to count the real income. The chromatographic apparatus by its functional purpose may be subdivided into several groups. Devices for standard analyses Universal chromatographs. Devices for special significance. The universal chromatographs are the most widely used types of the chromatographic equipment. According to information sources, their production makes up more that 90% of the whole quantity of chromatographic equipments. However, taking into account that the modern chromatographs of the leading firms include a large number of modifications, from which it is practically possible to make up an equipment of any special purpose, the proposed new basic technology of chromatography – Chromabarography will be low but not less than 50% of the quantity in demand. The economic effect of the chromatograph is determined mainly from the viewpoint of analytical control. By expert’s evaluation the annual effect of 1 equipment varies from thousands to hundred thousands rubles (dollars), giving a compensation period from several days to several months for an average price of an equipment. The commonly useful advantages of Chromabarography are obvious first of all for scientific investigations in studying the state of various solid supports and stationary phases for the separation of multicomponent mixtures with a wide range of boiling points. The analysis and estimation of conjuncture information and patent situation provide a basis to confirm that Chromabarography is a XXI century technology of scientific and commercial value. Attention! Proposing the modern technology by switching on the electronic market Internet, I am ready to discuss any question in the frame of the information postulated on the site

The last know – how’s and engineering in the creation of new modifications of Chromabarography with effective synergism. Subsequent consultations. Services rendered immediately by means of “Hot-Line”.

Conceptions of further improvement.

Performance of temporary or permanent, including the Joint Venture form, managering, industrial, patent licensing (all kinds of works, as well as evaluation and defense of the right of industrial intellectual ownership), research and innovation works. If you are interested and have ideas and projects, or simply wish to express your opinion, please write to Aram Hayrapetyan Perhaps with mutual efforts we shall work out solutions enabling the quickest use of the method and the production of the Chromabarograph and its modifications in analytical instrument-making. Would you agree to such a plan?

Methods of Improving Boiler Efficiency

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

With the rising cost of fuel prices, industries that use steam
boilers for heating or power generation are hard pressed to
operate at peak efficiencies.

While steam consumption, leakages, and other heat transmission
losses can contribute to the overall energy bill, this article
focuses on the heart of the steam generator – the boiler.

Controlling the boiler is of utmost importance in any steam
generation energy saving program. Below are some ways to improve
boiler efficiencies:

1. Reducing excess air
2. Installing economizer
3. Reducing scale and deposits
4. Reducing blow down
5. Recovering waste heat from blow down
6. Stopping dynamic operation
7. Reducing boiler pressure
8. Operating at peak efficiency
9. Preheating combustion air
10.Switching from steam to air atomization
11.Switching to lower cost fuel

Reducing Excess Air

By far the most common reason for energy inefficiencies in a
boiler can be attributed to the use of excess air during
combustion at the burners. When there is more air than is
required for combustion, the extra air becomes heated up and
is finally discharged out to the atmosphere. However, there
are reasons for putting in some extra air for combustion – to
compensate for imperfect burner fuel-air mixing conditions, air
density changes, control system “slop”, burner maintenance, fuel
composition and viscosity variation, and imperfect atomizing
steam or air controls for burners.

Adjusting the fuel-air ratio for combustion can be quite tricky.
If the fuel is too much as compared to the air, incomplete
combustion occurs. This will give rise to carbon soot deposits
inside the combustion chamber or even over the boiler tubes.

The consequences of having soot deposits over the heat transfer
surfaces and the potential of having explosive flue gases inside
the boiler are much worst than losing a slight amount of energy
through the exhaust stack. Therefore, many boiler operators
choose to adjust their burners to be slightly on excess air.

Installing Economizer

This is only appropriate if there are insufficient heat transfer
surfaces in the boiler. The economizer tubes may contain either
circulating boiler water or circulating feed water. Because the
temperature of the exhaust gases can be quite high, the economizer
tubes may be fitted with safety valves to avoid over-pressure
damage. Also temperature control of feed water is required to
prevent pump airlock. To avoid corrosion, careful design is needed
to ensure that the exhaust flue gas temperature does not drop
below the dew point.

Reducing Scale and Deposits

For any boiler operation, this is a must. The safety of the boiler
is at stake. Any scale or deposits will lead to reduced heat
transfer that will eventually lead to overheating, reduction of
mechanical strength of the steel and finally to bursting.

This should already be in the normal daily procedure of boiler
operation.

Reducing Blow down

Blow down of boiler water is discharging hot water into the drains.
However, blow down is necessary to maintain the boiler water
concentration of dissolved solids that are necessary for
conditioning the boiler water. The dissolved solids are necessary
for preventing boiler corrosion and scaling.

As steam is generated from the evaporation of water, the remaining
water in the boiler becomes more and more concentrated. This must
be drained away during blow down.

The challenge is to control the draining to the minimum.

Recovering Waste Heat from Blow down

Since it is necessary to blow down to control the total dissolved
solids in the boiler water, methods can be adopted to recover some of the heat back from the drained hot water.

Blow down tanks, heat exchanger tubes and pumping arrangements can
be fabricated to recover back some of the heat back into the boiler.

Stopping Dynamic Operation

Whenever a boiler starts or stops, a few minutes are spent running
the forced draft fan for purging the combustion chamber of unburnt
gases. This is a necessary step for the safe operation of a boiler.

During this time the heat from the boiler water in the shell or
tubes will be lost to the purging air.

To avoid this type of losses, it is better to maintain a steady
firing condition in the boilers.

Reducing Boiler Pressure

By reducing the boiler pressure, some of the heat losses through
leakages or transmission may be reduced slightly. However there can
be problems with the boiler with reduced pressure. The boiler
circulation may be upset and the steam lines may have insufficient
capacity and flow to transport the low pressure steam.

Operating at Peak Efficiency

When operating two or more boilers, improved efficiency can sometimes
be obtained by unequal sharing of the load so that the combined load
operates at peak efficiency.

Preheating Combustion Air

Any heat loss from the skin of the boiler to the boiler room can be
utilized back for combustion. By preheating the intake air the
combustion in the furnace becomes more efficient.

Switching from Steam to Air Atomization

For burners with steam atomization, switching to air atomization will
naturally result in less steam consumption overall and better boiler
efficiencies. This is only applicable for heavy fuel oil burners.

Switching to Lower Cost Fuel

When comparing natural gas and fuel oil, if the cost is the same or
more per BTU delivered, switch over to fuel oil.

The reason for this is that in the combustion process, hydrogen
combines with oxygen to form water. The latent heat of vaporization is
lost when water vapor leaves the boiler stack.

Fuels like natural gas with higher hydrogen to carbon ratio will lose
this heat more than those with lower hydrogen-carbon ratio like fuel
oil.

However one must also recognize that there will be increased
maintenance, operating costs and greater need for more excess air in
order to achieve complete combustion for fuel oil. In addition, soot
deposits and incomplete combustion might also affect the overall costs.

Some of the ways mentioned above may not be feasible at all for your
plant. Each of them may result in only a few percentage points of
boiler efficiency improvement. However, if carried out carefully and
with the proper tools and instruments, they do add up to huge savings.

About Web Forms in .NET Framework

About Web Forms in .NET Framework

Web pages in ASP.Net are called ASP.NET Web Forms which have certain server controls such as text, dropdown list, checkboxes, and buttons. An ASP.NET Web Form looks similar to the web forms in HTML. The only difference is that in ASP.NET, the Web Forms runs at the server side and in HTML the web forms runs at the client side. Apart from this difference an ASP.NET Web Form has more features than an ordinary HTML web form such as:

• The code blocks are processed on the server

• The entire page in ASP.NET is compiled when it is requested for the first time. When you make subsequent requests, the page is not compiled but shown directly in your browser

• ASP.NET Web Forms can contain page directives. Page directives allow you to set the default language and user controls tags for the entire page. You can also turn off session state and ViewState management using page directives

• An ASP.NET Web Form can contain both user controls and Server side Includes (SSIs)

• An ASP.NET Web Form though run on the server can contain client side script such as JavaScript or Jscript

An ASP.NET Web Form first gets compiled into Intermediate Language (IL) and later to the machine language. Not just the server-side code gets compiled but every control and element in the page gets compiled. This enables the ASP.NET Web Form to be in any language that is compatible with Common Language Runtime (CLR) engine. Another advantage with the code getting translated to IL is that the user can use the application in any browser. In addition, you can reduce the processors and server’s load when you compile the ASP.NET Web Forms in ASP.NET, thereby, increasing the user’s productivity time. Thus ASP.NET allows you to create Web Forms that are platform independent, language independent, and browser independent.

Free Traffic – Seven Ways

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

Free traffic? The other day I saw that someone had been putting post-it stickers with the name of their website on bus stop benches and telephone poles. How many ways can you get free web site traffic? Who knows, but here are seven ways to get you started.

1. Online classified advertisements. Search “free advertising” or “free ads”, and you’ll find there are many places that you can advertise for free. Few of them seem to be of any value, but I have been using two that work well. Place a few ads, then check your reports to see if they are bringing in traffic. Start regularly using the ones that deliver.

2. Link exchanges. Link exchanges with other web sites help you get free traffic in two ways: traffic directly from the other site, and traffic from the search engines, because the link helps your ranking with them. Find sites that have a theme similar or related to yours, and send out nice e-mails suggesting an exchange.

3. Post in discussion forums. This can be a great source of traffic for some sites. You just talk about things of interest to you, and get free traffic to your web site (always sign off with a link to your site). If you link to subscription pages for newsletters or e-courses you offer, you’ll get repeat visits from the traffic. Don’t spam, or you’ll be kicked out but true participation makes a relevant link okay in many forums.

4. Search engine submissions. Don’t wait for search engines to find you. Automatically submit to 15 of them at www.freewebsubmission.com. You can also submit manually to Google (www.google.com/addurl.html). Ultimately, search engines will be some of your primary sources of free traffic.

5. Submit to directories. First do a search for niche directories for the topic of your website. Type in “directory + online games,” or whatever your site is about. Many general directories also accept submissions for free. The value of directories is not direct traffic, however (you won’t get much). The value is in the links, which help your ranking (and therefore traffic) with the search engines.

6. Write and submit testimonials. If you love an e-book or other online product, tell the author, and let her know she can use your testimonial. Of course, mention that you’d appreciate it if she left the link to your site (under your name) active. Good testimonials are valuable, and you’ve probably seen them with a name and link attached.

7. Submit articles. This is one of the best ways to generate free web site traffic. In fact, it’s why I wrote this. An article is valuable because of the “resource box,” or “about the author box” at the bottom, where there is always a link. If I leave you intrigued, and wanting more, you might click through. This is a great way to generate free traffic.

Whiplash Can Last A Long Time

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

A very common term people use when they have had a car accident is “whiplash”. Whiplash is a very common outcome of car accidents often resulting in a lot of pain as well as a huge amount of discomfort and even serious problems with an injury that can have long-term physical effects. This can happen when the car is speeding or crawling along through a supermarket car park. Even at a slow speed, your head can shake enough to cause neck damage or tear back tissues. Whiplash may make its self know right away or take a couple of days to show it’s self. Many people put in an insurance car accident claim for whiplash injuries because of its often nasty side effects that can last for years or just a week, there is no pattern to these kinds of injury Make an insurance claim for whiplash even if you don’t think you whiplash is bad or that it is getting better, there can be many long term effects from this problem. Any back and/or neck injury from a car accident should be considered as serious. You should certainly not just deal with the pain on your own. Not treating whiplash can be serious and debilitating injuries that could last a lifetime. It may be in your best interests to seek the advice of a legal expert who deals specifically with these kinds of injury accident claims. Whiplash is not just a simple neck strain; it is a complex medical condition that can have a multitude of physical effects. Therefore, it is very important that you do not just ignore whiplash, either from the point of view of health or compensation.
