Free Web Site Traffic – 10 Ways

Friday, August 29th, 2008

How many ways can you get free web site traffic? Who knows, but here are some to get you started. Hopefully there will be one or two ways here that you haven’t yet tried.

1. Submit your web site to search engines. Don’t wait for them to find you. You can automatically submit to 20 at freewebsubmission.com. You’ll have to submit manually to Google (www.google.com/addurl.html).

2. Directories. Do a search for niche directories for the topic of your website. Just type in “directory + online games,” or whatever your site is about. There are also many general directories that accept submissions for free. The primary value of directories is not direct traffic, however. It is the links that help your ranking (and therefore traffic) with the search engines.

3. Forums. A great source of traffic for some sites. Talk about things of interest to you, and get free traffic to your web site (always sign off with a link). You may want to link to subscription pages for newsletters or e-courses you offer, to get maximum repeat visits from the traffic.

4. Free classifieds. There are many places that you can advertise for free, although few of them seem to be of any value. Test a little, and go with the ones that deliver.

5. Exchange Links. Exchanging links with other web sites can get you free traffic in two ways: traffic from the site, and traffic from the search engines, because the link helps your ranking with them.

7. Give testimonials. Do you love an e-book or other online product? Tell the author, and let her know she can use your testimonial. Mention that you’d appreciate it if she left the link to your site (under your name) active. Good testimonials are valuable, and you’ve probably seen them with a name and link attached.

8. Write articles. A great way to generate free web site traffic. In fact, thats what this article is about, and I have to tell you that there are at least ten more ways to get free traffic in my newsletter. You may want to visit the site and sign up.

Software Outsourcing

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

Cyndi Joiner had been responsible for GMAC’s Corporate Real Estate and Facilities Management group for three months when she faced a major challenge: The large support operation appeared to be at a crossroads. The division needed to cut costs, manage suppliers’ performance better, and clean up the chaos engendered by a lack of internal controls, standards, and up-to-date technology.

Joiner presented top management with three options: continue the present course, reengineer the division, or outsource the entire operation. Management selected “Door No. 3,” Joiner says, primarily to reduce head count and improve processes quickly. But Joiner got more than she bargained for: GMAC executives were so excited by outsourcing’s potential cost savings and apparent ease of execution that they decided to shrink the standard timeline. Whereas many firms would have allotted more than six months to complete an initiative of this magnitude, GMAC executives asked Joiner to do it in six weeks.

In spite of notable obstacles, Joiner met the challenge. In doing so, she and GMAC learned valuable lessons about launching an outsourcing initiative.

The decision to outsourceCompanies outsource noncore business functions to third-party providers for various reasons: to reduce head count, to cut expenses, and to improve service. In GMAC’s case, the company believed it could not only trim personnel and other costs during a tough economic time but also might better fulfill its core purpose: ensuring that customers have a positive home-ownership experience. That meant focusing more on selling mortgages and properties. Thus, the real estate and facilities-management arm of the business became an ideal candidate for outsourcing. “The talent pool in our core competencies,” Joiner says, “was much greater than in this other function. We needed a deeper ‘bench’ in facilities management, and outsourcing would let us get that.”

Selecting an outsourcing partner As a first step in selecting an outsourcing partner, Joiner recommends canvassing your industry to come up with a handful of candidates. GMAC hired a consulting firm to handle the search, owing to the accelerated timetable. The consultants served as advisers on several levels:

Suggesting potential partners Helping GMAC develop a picture of what the new organization should look like after the software outsourcing was complete Offering recommendations for defining the partnerships Assisting GMAC in interviewing potential partners’ former and current customers Then look at each company’s standing in the industry, its flexibility, and its track record with firms similar to yours. “Look for companies that make a good cultural match with your own,” she adds. “Find out what you can about their portfolio of talent. Make sure they’re willing to explain the reasons behind both their successes and failures.” Savings and speed In proposing an outsourcing initiative to senior executives, managers need to do more than just stress the potential cost savings. Why? “Savings come in three forms,” Joiner says. “Immediate dollars on the P&L, eventual improvements in processes, and avoidance of costs. You won’t see all the savings show up immediately on your P&L, and some of them will always be hard to quantify.”

Moreover, overemphasizing the financial benefits of software outsourcing can cause firms to set too short a timetable. A rapid execution has pros and cons. As Joiner discovered, speed enables a company to get through the most painful part of the change process quickly and minimizes friction created by resisters. It also forces people to adapt quickly. As Joiner puts it, “You can’t know till you jump in the middle that you don’t know how to swim. But you learn howreally fast.”

Competition Get Intense with Gaming Notebooks

Monday, August 25th, 2008

Do you remember when laptops for gaming were a niche item? I highly doubt they sold in any ground breaking volumes but they sure generated tons of revenue for the manufacturers. They were the notebook computers you dreamed of but were out of your reach. They were like the pinnacle of what was possible with laptop computer technology. The best laptop computers about. Though that was true I think the prices were so high that we would buy laptops that were not as great instead. Sales will pick up though now that larger companies are getting into the sector.

Compared to the littler system builders these companies know they can get even more cash. It is certainly a good way to larger gross profits. In my opinion bigger companies can use leverage to persuade potential buyers to buy laptop computers despite the expense. This is a giant threat to littler boutique companies. I express this because now the technology which was once special and overpriced is now mainstream. Consumers just feel a lot more at ease making a major purchase from a well known name.

The notebook computers are surprisingly good as well. I still anticipate that littler companies will gain some inspiration from this. Majority of the time the pre built laptop computers are good performers however not fast enough and a few people don’t take well to that. Normally many evaluations of the specs will be done and the techies can decide what the better portable really is. For these types of people, the specs of a notebook usually matter more than the looks of it.

All the changes are very positive from the consumer’s view. As this forces down the prices even more, high end technology will become increasingly acquirable to the market. Who can possibly predict what will happen. I am actually not sure anymore. New notebooks are continuously being launched and these new models typically start at premium prices. Strong Competition normally makes companies to create better products and provide greater value so that sounds promising.

How to Understand Single Women

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

Do you sometimes have a hard time understanding single women? How they act and how they think? Does it sometimes seem like they are from another planet?

Well, let me give you some advice to help you out in understanding single women and people in general.

The first mistake you’re making is expecting her to think like you and be like you. You expect her to see the world as you do. This is a big mistake! She will never be like you or think like you. She will not be a clone of you.

We are all unique individuals and not alike. It would be a pretty boring world if we were all-alike and thought alike. We all have different opinions of things and see the world differently based upon our upbringing, experiences, knowledge, etc.

And don’t make the mistake of trying to change a woman that you are dating into someone like yourself. Sorry, it just won’t happen. Accept her unconditionally with her faults and all.

People are resistant to change and if you’re constantly trying to change her, you are just going to end up alienating her.

So in closing, remember this: Any woman you meet will not exactly think like you and be like you. If you can accept this statement it will go a long way in helping you to understand women and people in general.

P.S. I’m sure that you’ve heard the old saying that opposites attract. Well, I don’t agree with this. If you don’t have a lot in common, I think that this hurts a relationship. You need to share common interests and if you disagree on everything, all this does is create friction and is detrimental to creating a loving, harmonious, and long term relationship.

If you have ever been in a relationship in which you have nothing in common, I sure you can relate to this. All you do is fight and disagree all the time. It’s just not worth it and this sure is no way to be happy. Don’t you agree? Things go so much smoother when you are compatible.

Jogging And Your Knees

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

Jogging is perhaps the most common and practical exercise that anybody can be do anywhere and anytime. Statistics shows that more people jogs or runs more than people going to aerobic classes or visits the gym. But do these joggers know that jogging is actually a high impact exercise for their knees?

The knee is a very complex joint. It includes the articulation between the leg and thigh (tibia and femur) and the knee cap (patella). The most common knee problems in jogging relate to what is called the “patellofemoral complex”. This consists of the quadriceps, knee cap and patellar tendon. What is now called patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS) is also known as runner’s knee. For many years runner’s knee was considered to be breaks down of the cartilage inside the patella.

Symptoms Of Runner’s Knee

When you feel pain around and sometimes behind the kneecap, this would signal you that you might be suffering from runner’s knee. As one of the most common injuries among joggers, runner’s knee most often strikes as joggers approach forty miles per week for the first time. Even after taking a few days off, the pain seems to come right back, sometimes even more intense, after the first few miles of the next run. The pain often is the worst when running downhill or walking down stairs, and the knee is often stiff and aching after sitting down for long periods. You might hear a clicking sound when you bend or extend your knee.

To Test If You Have Runner’s Knee

The foolproof test for runner’s knee is to sit down and put your leg out on a chair so that it’s stretched out straight. Have someone to squeeze your leg just above the knee while pushing on the kneecap. He should push from the outside of the leg toward the centre. Meanwhile, tighten your thigh muscle. If this is painful, you’re suffering from runner’s knee.

Early Treatments

Runner’s knee can be further aggravated by simple overuse. If you have steeply increased your mileage recently, you might consider holding back a bit. Stop doing any activities that hurt the knee, and don’t start again until you can do them without any pain. If you really have to exercise, select other forms of exercise which will give your knees a lower impact or strain, exercise such as swimming would be a better and advisable choice.

Use the R.I.C.E. formula:

Rest: Avoid giving impact on the painful knee. Most people will temporarily switch to a non-weight bearing activity, such as swimming.

Ice: Apply cold packs or ice wrapped in a towel for short periods of time, several times a day.

Compression: Use an elastic bandage such as a simple knee sleeve with the kneecap cut out or knee guard that fits snugly without causing pain.

Elevation: Keep the knee raised up higher than your heart.

It is always a good idea to look after your feet and legs because in order for them to serve you longer (for as long as you wish to live going places), you need to give them ample rest and attention. Many people does not know that foot health is as important as their internal organs’ health, and sometimes neglected symptoms such as knee pains or heel pains which could change their lifestyle if not rectified early.

Therefore it is vital that attention is given to foot health and foot health information is easily obtained both online and offline. Help your feet and legs and they will benefit you for life.

Events of property in India

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

India has steadily picked up the phenomenon of property boom worldwide. Currently property sales are growing at an astounding speed and action in the country. Already developers of outstanding repute have lapped some of the best properties in India. However, it would be prudent to add that lots of small time investors too have joined the bandwagon to make it the success that property mart today is.

Recent surveys have shown that India has the right environment that offers maximum benefits to its property investors. The country has a stabilized political environment with a huge emphasis on rule of law. Moreover, most of the institutions that go into actual nation building are firmly in place. Given the huge success story that IT has come to showcase and the tremendous economic strides India has made in the past decade, the country has become the numero uno investment hub when it comes to property. Not surprisingly, as per a recent UNCTAD (United Nations Conference on Trade and Development) report, India is among the top four Asian destinations for foreign direct investment.

In the past, investments in India were traditionally limited to residential, land services and commercial property, with a specific number of businesses to name. Over a period of time, new vistas have opened in areas such as commercial land, agricultural land, land for schools, hospitals or resorts, land for houses, shopping malls and more. Now investors can select from the large geographical expanse — that India has opened upto. The choice is still alluring — From India’s commercial capital Mumbai and other important metros such as Chennai, Kolkatta, Delhi or Bangalore to smaller cities such as Indore, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad or Coimbatore. There are possibilities galore.

Experts would vouch that it makes ample sense to invest in Indian property sector now because a very few countries offer the kind of social, economical and political environment that India does. With the growing incomes and increasing purchasing power parity of an average Indian, the mushrooming of malls and leisure tourism have come up in a big way. The boom is only expected to grow.

Realty Plus – a quality magazine focusing on the real estate in India – is a powerhouse of knowledge and perhaps the best publication in this genre.
